THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE HAS RECOGNIZED PAULDING COUNTY WITH THE 2007 AWARD “EXCELLENCE FOR INNOVATION IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT”
THIS RECOGNIZES THEIR EFFORT TO CREATE A “GREEN” SELF SUSTAINABLE AND TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED SATELLITE CITY, WITHIN METROPOLITAN ATLANTA, GEORGIA.
The Paulding initiative utilizes a new model as a stand alone technically advanced solution
which does not require its inhabitants to commute to the city while working and living in an
ecofriendly environment.
The Master Plan which covers over 20,000 acres located approximately 30 miles west of
downtown Atlanta, maintains over 50% of the land as a wildlife conservation area. This
incorporates the Paulding Forest together with a number of integrated development clusters
focused on:
-
A General Aviation and VLJ (Very Light Jet) airport and airport park, enabling the use of
the air taxi as a means to travel to other urban centers without using major hub airports
-
Village Centers, which create a multilevel mixed use living, working and recreation
environment utilizing New Urbanism concepts
-
Office, Research and Technology parks, which capitalize on convergent (voice, video,
data) applications utilizing the Fiber to the Premises infrastructure
-
Active Adult Living areas which adjoin lakes, streams and a golf course, and facilitate
work from home by the use of a broadband Community Network
-
Hotel – Resort, Healthcare and Education focused areas as part of a self sufficient living – working – recreation environment.
The new model both minimizes the need for daily long distance commutes, while providing a
network of pedestrian, cycling and equestrian trails connecting the individual clusters within
the development.
The venture which is endorsed by “The Nature Conservancy” will bring balance between
advanced technology and a green initiative as an internationally competitive solution.
